display device

I want to install the display device driver for a Latitude C810 that I am installing Windows 98 on.

How do I find out which display device is in my machine?
Start->Settings->System->Hardware
only gives the defualt Win98 device driver information.

I do not have the original documenttaion - it is a second-hand machine.

There are NO drivers for the internal LCD screen. So if your not connecting a regular monitor to the VGA port on the back of the notebook you don't need any and you won't find any.

I've installed Windows 98 and it only gives a VGA 640x480 resolution.
How do I get higher resolutions displayed?

I don't have any sort of DELL installation disk - this is a second hand machine.

    Thanks,
    Gary

Which video cards drivers should I install?
Where do I download them from?

    Thanks,
    Gary

From the Dell Support site. Look at the top of this page just under the word Dell you will see Product Support. Select Downloads & Drivers select your model and then OS. you will have to figure out which video card you have IF your model had more than one offered when it was made.

    Yup.
This brings me back to my original question.
    How do I do that?

There is no original documentation available.
There are a dozen or do drivers listed in the DELL driver download site for this machine.

    Thanks,
    Gary

No there isn't. At least NOT for the VIDEO CARD. There is only one for the video card.

    http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&releaseid=R66301&SystemID=LAT_PNT_P3C_C810&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=1002&devlib=0&typecnt=1&vercnt=8&formatcnt=1&fileid=86162

You keep looking under Display Devices, that for monitors not video cards.

Indeed I do keep looking there - my mistake!
I was doing that because there isn't a section for 'video cards' if you choose the operating system 'Windows 98' (which is what I am trying to install).

You are being very helpful, and I do appreciate it!
    Thanks for your patience.

Does this mean that I can't run under any resolution apart from 640x480 when running Win98?
