I8500: "You cannot eject your computer because..."

HELP!!

I cannot select 'undock computer' but must shutdown instead.

This error is driving me buggy:

"You cannot eject your computer because one of the devices is the docking station station, 'ECP Printer Port (LPT1)' , cannot be stopped because a program is still accessing it."

I've removed printers, removed parallel port to no avail.  They are properly seen at next bootup, and drivers reinstalled.  I BELIEVE my problem started when I added an ethernet printer (HP jetdirect), and the problem is not resolved even when removing software from Control Panel.

Suggestions?

Thanks, Mark

Try looking around in your BIOS setup (F2 when it's starting up). I believe you can flat-out disable the port from there.

Did you ever fix this problem? I'm having the exact same problem with my 600m and APR. Trying to find a solution other than reinstalling my operating system.

    Good afternoon!

No, the problem was never fixed.  My solution?  Visit GRC.com and grab a program called 'wizmo.'

I have a shortcut on my screen which accomplishes the same thing.  The command line for the shortcut is:

    D:\SETUP\WIZMO\wizmo.exe standby

    This works QUITE WELL!

    Regards,
    Mark

I got the same thing on my Latitude C640.  I had it in W2K, then rebuilt my machine to XP fresh and same thing.  Must be BIOS or H/W.
