Screen Resolution on a Widescreen Laptop

Although the widescreen is obviously benefical for providing more working space and watching movies, I hate it when I play games in full screen at it stretches the image to fit..

Is there a way I can change the resolution so it can cut the sides of and use a standard resolution?

Thanks in advance.

Check in your bios pages there should be a option expand or streach image to fit display if you dont want it to do so disable it.
