Dell 1905FP problem?

Hi
I just got this flat panel and I started noticing that after windows shuts the monitor off and I come in and wake it up the screen is all distorted and lines in and what not, when I turn it off and back on with the power button it goes away. It only does sometimes.
Thanks

    Savage03,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Here are some things to try and resolve the issue with the lines on the monitor.

    • Perform monitor reset
    • Push Auto Adjust button
    • Adjust Phase and Clock controls via OSD
    • Perform monitor self-test feature check and determine if these lines are also in self-test mode
    • Check for bent or broken pins

Ok it just did it again when I came in it was off and moved the mouse and got a black screen with several vertical color lines running through it, I tried to do a screen shot but when I looked at it, it was just a pic of my screensaver so that tells me its not windows its something with the monitor?

Did you get answer from Dell about this monitor problem? My 8400 with the 1905FP and Geforce 6800 is about 4 months old and has started doing the same thing. It seems to be random when it does it, but it's always when I either start up or when I move the mouse to power on the monitor. Otherwise, it operates just fine. Anyone else have the same problem?

what is the difference between a dvi cable and analogue ? Thought dvi was suppose to be the best but I will swap and see what happens.

What do you get when you use the analogue cable? When you plug that in, don't have the DVI in at the same time. Also make sure you screw the cable ends in firmly to the PC and monitor. The analogue gives more access to functions on the OSD menu. Under "Image Settings" your phase setting should be at 25 and pixel clock at 100. If your screen behaves with the analogue cable, you may have a faulty DVI cable.
