Monitor went blank...

I'm not all too familiar with everything on my computer, but I do know that I clicked on the "ATI" button at the bottom right hand corner to change the resolution.  Once I did that and browsed the different choices, I clicked on one and the screen blank and currently says this:

1:  Auto Detect (Analog Input)

Cannot Display This Video Mode

Optimum resolution 1440x 900 60Hz

I pressed the button on the monitor to see if I could get back to my default settings but it won't let me.  I called Dell to see if they could help but I don't $49.99 for a temporary warranty just so they could help me.  They said something about it needing a Windows Boot or the Service Tag or something.  Can anybody help me out please?

Sounds like you changed the resolution to one the monitor won't support.

Restart the PC, then tap F8 until you get a list of boot options.   Choose "VGA Mode".   This should boot the PC to a low default resolution so  you can change it back to the correct one (1440x900) through either the ATI utility or control panel.

Or, try "Last Known Good Configuration" in the same menu.
