No picture!

I brought this monitor home from work, as we do not use it anymore. When I plugged it into my computer, I see my desktop for a split second and then it goes blank. The power light is still green on the monitor. The power indicator never changes colors. It is always green when it is plug into the wall. If I turn the monitor off, and then back on again, I still only see the desktop for a split second before it turns blank. I have disconnected, reconnected the cords time and time again. I have tried it on other computers. I have made sure that other monitors work on my computers. Any suggestions?

I do not know the model #. There is nothing on the monitor say model #. There is a white sticker on the back with a few #s. CN-OM1609-46633-479-OCKT and REV A00 It does say model No. and then a bunch of chinese letters. Then below it E172FPb. Is that the model #? I hope this info helps. Thanks!

    dfields78,

The video card settings must be 1280 x 1024 at 60 Hz. Plug a different monitor into that PC, change it to 1280 x 1024 at 60 Hz, then, reconnect the E172FP.

I changed the settings and the plugged back in the E172FP. I still only saw the desktop image for a slit second before it went black. Are there any other things that I could try? Thanks! Dan

    dfields78,

Does the picture stay on if you try to boot into safemode?

    * Click Start- Turn Off Computer- Restart
    * At the blue Dell, tap F8 to bring up the Windows boot menu
    * Scroll to and select Safe Mode, press the Enter key
    * Select the first or only operating system, press the Enter key

No it does not give me time.  I have rebooted in safe mode with another monitor plugged in.  When I plug in the "issue monitor" I can see the screen (like before) for a split second, then it goes black.  Is this a backlight issue?  Thanks!

    dfields78,

Possibly. Did it give you any of these troubles at work?

It worked fine at my work, until it just started going black once you turned it on. So we went ahead and bought a new one, but I want to use this one at home. I did try it on other computers at work before bringing it home, and it did the same thing.

    dfields78,

The PPID number shows the monitor is outside of three years, so the warranty has ended.

    Manf Date: July 9, 2004
    Part Number: M1609

I realize the monitor is out of warrant. That is why I am trying to find a solution on this forum.
