Failed to start vStorage API driver service
Hi All,
I was getting the following on running VADP backups, the proxy host was just updated to 8.0.2.6 (All windows machine). I started to get the following on failing backups. ( nsr server - 8.0.2.6, win2k8)
nsrvadp_save: Failed to start vStorage API driver service.
nsrvadp_save: Failed to Initialise LibVADP Context.
The 'NetWorker-8.0-and-Service-Packs-Release-Notes' on page 84 lists this as known issues with 7.6.2 but that i think is not true. It is an issue in 8.0.2.6 as well.

NetWorker uninstallation on VADP proxy host
NW125084
When the NetWorker client is uninstalled from the VADP proxy host, a prompt to reboot
the system appears. If No is selected, and the client is reinstalled without rebooting the
system, the VADP backups will fail with the following errors:
nsrvadp_save: Failed to start vStorage API driver service.
nsrvadp_save: Failed to Initialise LibVADP Context.
Workaround
If the NetWorker client is to be reinstalled on the same VADP proxy host, then a system
reboot is required before performing a VADP backup or restore again.

Sure, this is why it is listed in release notes for NW8. Most likely text is copy and paste from NW7 release notes should it should be read that this is there since 7.6SP2 and present in current release as well.
