need to check device status from CLI

Hi, how can I check status for each tape drive (device) in AlphaStor library, using CLI? Is there a command like "asdevSETstatus" to verify it before making a change? I didn't find any obvious commands under /as/bin/, neither can I see any in AS command reference

As far as I remember there is no such command in AS as most of the commands are volume oriented.

I didn't check recent CLI manual, but you said you didn't find it so...

That's bad news. I was going to write a script to "up" all the devices which have been "downed" by Networker. I can do all, including already functioning devices, by using:
    asdevsetstatus [dev_name] up
but I'd rather do it clean and only for the devices which were switched to "down" by networker

"asdevsetstatus" is not in that manual either, at least mine (3.1) doesn't have it, so I don't have a lot of confidence in that manual. It covers 49 as* commands, while 3.0.4_66 comes with 75 commands, starting with as, but no man pages and almost non-existent help option for them.

If you are trying to verify the tape is really loaded into the device and networker and alphastor may not be reflecting that it is loaded you can use the sjirdtag command. This communicates directly to hardware not though networker or alphastor.

    sjirdtag

The tape device will show as
Elem[xxx]: tag_val=1 (val=1 means there is a tape in the drive) You do need to

Thank you John. "sjirdtag" displays whether the device has a tape in it, but does not say anything about the administrative status set by AlphaStor.
Anyway, unfortunately I have to drop my idea, because our AS v3.0.X does not support what I need. Even
    asdevsetstatus up|down
does not do me any good, because the only status it does set is the word up/down in GUI (when you pull up "Mark device Up/Down" window), but does not actually change the device to "up/down". Without the ability to actually manage the devices I do not to need to know their status. EMC support confirmed that they are not aware of any such commands for v3.0X

Ah yes, isn't that command you must create (symlink) as originally doesn't get created on some UNIX systems...?
