e1505 "limited or no connectivity" can't game wirelessly!!
just got my brand new shiny e1505 2 days ago and i love it! ..... all except
for one thing. the same thing that seems to happen to many others with this
wireless card. Here is my setup for wifi:
Dell Wireless 1390 802.11b/g Mini Card (54Mbps), for Inspiron 6400/E1505
WRT54GC Compact Wireless-G Broadband Router
i get a full (excellent) signal but keeps saying "limited or no connectivity". i
click to fix the problem and it seems fine except i get a roller coaster effect
on my signal even though it is saying full strength. i can surf the internet ok
but signal will drop then go back up (i can see it when downloading something).
can't play online games because the signal going in and out makes it
impossible!! i have an older inspiron 5100 that connects just fine via
wifi and the signal stays strong on it.
my e1505 is running wmc. i've tryed messing with the power save options,
security options. i will try updating the firmware when i get home but it says latest update
was made in '05 and i bought the router about a month ago. i really want to love this new laptop
of mine, but i can't untill i can game it wirelessly. please help me! steve to the rescue??

yes i have my network named with no security settings for the moment. its the only signal i get in my home. any other suggestions? just seems to not hold a good strong signal like my other laptop even if within a foot of router. must be a setting i'm missing?

- Silent Tyga,You're experiencing the same problem that so many of us have been having with the 1390 wireless card. The 1390 wireless card seems to have a lot of incompatibility issues. My E1505/6400 is only two weeks old and I've had nothing but prolems with the wireless. I have 6 other wireless devices in my house with no problems what so ever so I know my network is sound. Tech support sent me a replacement 1390 card and I had the exact same problems with the replacement card. After reading a lot of posts on this forum about all the 1390 problems, I ordered the Intel Pro/Wireless 3945 card and just put it in tonight. That's the same wireless card I have in my other laptop (XPS 1710) I am now up and running with no issues at all. I recommend dumping that 1390 card and buying the Intel card; the cost is only $35 and they will give you free next day delivery. It will save you so many headaches.OB
- you might want to try to disable the intel wireless management software, and let windows manage your wireless, i heard it can help and your also using a linksys router which for some reason has issues with that card or the intel software. Just some ideas.

thanks for all your help everyone. kgobrien, i had a good feeling that the 1390 card was just junky or whatever. i'm going to try a couple more things, but will definatly get the 3945 card if it solves the problem as you say it does. had a friend of mine come over and help me out with my wireless network, i know a good amount about computers but he knows a lot more about networking then i do. this is what we tryed so far:
changing some of the settings on the wirless card itself seemed to help a little bit but not completly solve the issues. so we updated the driver on the 1390 card then went to update the firmware on the wireless router (linksys Compact Wireless G). after downloading and installing the firmware the process froze right at the end causing my router to crash and become unrecoverable. so i then had to take it back to the store and get another one, luckily it had been just under a month since i purchased it. so i set up the new router last night and same thing, excellent signal but drops regularly and says "limited or no conn.". so we are going to try setting up a static IP for my e1505 and fine tune the adjustments. i'll post to let you know how it goes, but i have the feeling i will end up buying the 3945 card. thanks again, hopefully i will be gaming it wirelessly soon!

Are you sure you are connecting to your router and not to a neighbor's router?
