limited or no connectivity
Hi, I live on a college campus, and the college has a wireless network that can be accessed from anywhere on campus. I have a wireless card on my insiron 6000, and only when the signal strength is very good or excellent (which is 99% of the time), it says the message "limited or no connectivity." When I try to repair the problem it says:
"Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action coule not be taken: Renewing your IP address"
How can I fix this problem? Thanks!

I go to LSU (Louisiana State University), and here's how they keep other users out. When you click your internet provider, a page pops up that asks for your login name and password (every LSU student has an LSU login name). I haven't checked with computing services yet because they were closed this weekend, but I will ask tomorrow. Does you campus network use any features, like MAC address filtering, to keep unauthorized users from accessing the wireless network? Have you checked with your college's computer services department to see? Which school to you go to?

This is my first time using a wireless card with LSU, and I just received my laptop for Christmas. But I know other's wireless cards have been working with the network. I'll still contact computing services tomorrow just to make sure.Message Edited by lollypop585 on 01-22-2006 08:26 PM
- You need to know whether a KEY is required. On our campus in Virginia (where I provide tech support) we have WEP 128-bit which requires folks to provide (twice) 26 characters for any wireless access point. I hope you found the LSU solution.

Has it worked before? Check with the LSU network folks anyway to make sure that things are working correctly on their end.
