I have a puzzling problem with a Dimension 9200 running Windows XP. Having been away for two weeks, when I returned, I suddenly had a problem accessing the Internet. The computer connects to the router, sees other computers on the home local area network, can access a DNS server (checked by running ping), but no packets. When I run the Microsoft diagnostic, it fails on the Default IP Gateway, DHCPServer, and DNServer Search Order. It isn't the network card, as I installed a new ethernet card. It isn' the router, as the wireless and wireless connections to other computers work, and, when I tried installing a wireless network adapter on my desktop, it still didn't work. I have tried both automatic and manual assigning of IP information (local ip address, DNS server, etc) and still no joy.
