I have cable internet on my computer and use a microsoft wireless base station which transmits to my wife's computer at the other end of the house. Service is OK, although it took me forever to get it working.
We're thinking of buying a new all-in-one printer and have two questions:
1) What is the best all-in-one printer for under $1,000.
2) Would we be able to use one printer and print to it with either computer using the microsoft wireless base station and current network we now have between our two computers?
You may be able to buy a pocket print server for much less. One end plugs into the printer and the other end connects to the router. Google it on the web.

2) You could, though you'd need a HP Jetdirect 175x print server to connect it to your base station.
Total would run you about $160 for the Printserver + 280 for the Printer = 440.
