Dell Precision 5820 Tower compatibility
Hello all,
I took out my i9 9980xe and dropped in an i7 7800x but I can’t seem to figure out why it won’t post.
Bios 2.44.0 (latest)
Motherboard 02m8ny
Am I missing something? Every time I put the 9980xe in it posts with no issues but when I drop the i7 7800x nothing shows up (caps lock light on keyboard turns on but no display) I know that the i7 7800x works bc I tested it in another motherboard. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Unsupported configuration? Check the owner's manual and see if the same configuration (namely RAM configuration) is supported with the I7-7800x.
Not sure why you'd want to downgrade, are you selling it?

Hello,
sorry for asking but ... why do you want to downgrade ? the i9 you are currently using is way more powerful than that i7
