Yes, the Precision 7875 supports eight DIMM slots of DDR5 RDIMM, 4800 MT/s ECC. However, the memory size per slot are 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB, with minimum of 16 GB and maximum of 2 TB memory configurations. The system will also support 5600 modules at the speed of 5200 MT/s.
Not supported does not mean that it won't be working. If you have 96 GB modules on hand, just run test without mixing with OEM's. Many outside of specs have been attempted and validated by users.
Correct, those higher speed modules will be downclocked to Dell specs of 5200 MT/s. For Micron, purchase directly from official site like Crucial for their working guarantee (free return) and warranty supports.
I bought these RAM sticks but when I install them, without the OEM ones, the machine has the power light come on and stay on. It doesn't power up for a second and turn back off like it does with the OEMs. Also, nothing comes up on the screen. Any ideas?
