Error in searching the Active Directory for all sites: Windows-text: 2147950607 - The directory service is unavailable.
Description
An error was encountered trying to read the site list. The Domain controller may be unavailable.
Resolution
1. Check network connections for this machine and the domain controller.
The "source" server is a domain controller - that's where I'm getting this error. I'm also seeing this error:
Site=server.domain.COM File=octomove.cpp Line=839 Revision=1.24
Severity=WARNING Error=0 Category=0 Process=Server
Time=8/27/2007 8:01:42 AM Millisec=365 MSG_READ
Synchronize failed (E:\foldername\Systems\Docs\ -> targetserver.domain.COM). Windows-text: 5 - Access is denied.
If the error is "The device is not ready" make sure that Mirroring is enabled.
We're using the system account for the replistor service.
The 1st error indicates that the site you have installed RepliStor on is having difficulty communicating with a Domain Controller in the environment, as the description indicates.
Is this box with the error in the domain?
For the 2nd error, go to the Functions menu on the Source, ensure both Mirroring and Forwarding are enabled.
Yes, you can go to the registry of the box you saw the error on. Go to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RepliStorControl\Parameters
There is a DWORD called DisableActiveDir.
If the value is set to 1, then you are not using AD. If the value is set to 0, then you are.
Was this error generated after a reboot? It is possible ReplIStor tried to query AD for the site list before the service was started.
Therefore, it is as if the DC was unavailable. Check the System logs to correlate the time stamp of the message to see if a reboot took place at that time.

2. Did you install RepliStor with AD support?
