hard drive
i have a e521 dell.i was looking on the web site at a 320gig hard drives
in the add it says the you can format the whole 320gig in fact their number
was 320.78 how is this possible when i can't get the 160gig i have to format
at more than 149gig? my hard drive is a seagate 160gig sata.

so what you're saying is you can't get the full amountof the hard drive.do you know if windows vista will doany better with large drives. thanks

What he's saying is that drive manufacturer's use a terminology that isn't the same as reality. That terminology results in a 7% difference. So, regardless of the OS, a 100gb drive will always be 93gb of space. I'd give you a link to that explanation, but Dell moved everything around so it doesn't work.And, it's not a large drive thing. A 30gb drive will show as 7% less or 27.9gb.shesagordie
