Blue screen - Virus?

I have an Inspiron 600m. There's a blue screen that comes on while it's booting and doesn't let me go anywhere. Something like this happened to my computer once and everything had to be deleted. Is there anything I can do to save my documents?

Here's what the screen says.

STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file):
\SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE
or its log or alternate.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writeable.

Beginning dump of phsycial memory
Physical memory dump compelte.
Contact your system administratotor or technical support group for furthur assistance.

Thanks in advance :)

    Are you able to get to safemode?

    Boot up - as soon as you get a black screen - but before the windows spash screen

    Begin tapping the F8 key twice a second untill you get to the menu

    scroll up to safemode with command prompt

    return

    At the start I'm given Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, and Start Windows normally as options but none of them work.
    What can I do?

    None of them work? When you scroll up and hit enter, do you mean the screen just stays were it is?

    And do you have any accessories pluged in? (printers, external monitors, etc)

    When I click on it, it just goes back to the blue screen.
    No I don't have anything plugged in. I think I have a virus.

    I found a friend who's going to look into it. Thanks for the help =)

    Yoonay,

    Were you able to find a solution to your "Hive file registry Error".
    It has just happened to me.

    Thanks,

    No I couldn't fix it so I had to reprogram my computer.
    I was able to save my files though.
    Good luck to you.
