    Download the Hoster from:
Unpack to your desktop and run it.  If you have green print at the top then just press Restore Original Hosts then OK.
IF you have red print then press make Hosts Writeable first.

    Get DelDomain.inf from:

http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelDomains.inf  and then right click on it and Install.

    Then get smitrem from

and run it.  It will probably restore your wininet.dll.

Also download and install ccleaner.exe from http://www.ccleaner.com. Don't let
    it clean anything yet.

    Shutdown and restart and
Boot into Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key when you see the PC maker's logo.
Keep tapping until it tells you it is going to Safe Mode or you see the Safe
Mode menu. Select the top option.  Then log in with your usual login.  Do not use Administrator.

Run HijackThis and check the box in front of each

Press Fix Checked and ignore any warnings.

Run ccleaner.exe, uncheck everything on the first page except the two entries
with Temporary and then Run Cleaner.

    Reboot into regular mode.

Run HijackThis and make a new log and post it as a Reply.

heres the new log file. I had already downloaded a new wininet.dll and so only followed mainly the latter half of the instructions- downloaded hoster, booted in safe mode, fixed the checked files on hijackthis, and ran CCleaner. I wasnt sure if i needed to run the smitrem program to fix the wininet.dll since i downloaded a new one and the Deldomain link didnt work.
Anyway, everything seems to be working well and i havnt had any pop-ups or noticable slowing down.
    thanks again

I'm surprised the deldomain link didn't work.  I just checked it and it's still good for me.  Got it.  Your DNS server has been hijacked by a DNS server in the Ukraine (You don't live there by any chance?).  Check these in Hijackthis and then Fix Checked and reboot.

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{A12B35BA-7011-4D44-886A-7EC0E9A8DAD8}: NameServer = 85.255.113.131,85.255.112.20
    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{BD2B3B0F-0CAE-4736-A013-F9CE747E842E}: NameServer = 85.255.113.131,85.255.112.20

You should be able to get deldomain then.

Anyway the remain infection should go away with:

    http://www.trojaner-info.de/cgi-bin/download.cgi?file=sphjfix

SAVE it to your desktop first then run it.  It may come up in German or English.  In German, press Disinfektion Starten or in English, Start Disinfection.  It will reboot your system in the process.

Run a new Hijackthis log and let's see if it worked.
