2400 Extremely Slow with Roxio Video Wave 7

I have a 2400 with 1 Gb of RAM and an extra 200 Gb hard drive, both recently upgraded.  I also recently purchased Roxio Video Wave 7 to edit videos (I just got a new Sony DHC-40 Mini DV), and when I am trying to edit the video the whole system seems to bog down (more than a second delay when options are chosen in the Roxio program).  I thought that the 1 Gb of RAM would have alleviated a lot of problems like this.  Is there anything else that I need to upgrade in order to easily edit my videos?  Thanks a lot for your help.

http://www1.us.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/compare_dimen?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs  This link will show you all the systems and the 2400 system or the newer 3000 system, is not meant for editing video.  You may have the integrated video on your system since you did not list a true dedicated video card.  The integrated video is not meant for anything except internet, word applications, e-mail stuff.  You have the entry level system and sorry to say that editing video cannot be done well at all with that system.   You can purchase a PCI video card to help matters, but again for editing movies you will need a better computer.
