I own 2 Dell products. One is a Dimension B110 and the other is an Inspiron 530. I recently performed a complete re-install of XP on the 530 and then realized that I used the disc form the B110 and now I can't find the correct discs.
I have no network adapters or audio drivers being detected. I can't connect to the internet to download the drivers, so I'm not able to update the drivers for the devices.
As long as both systems have licenses (the Product Key sticker) for the same version of XP (Home or Pro), then it doesn't matter which CD you used. Having used the wrong XP CD is not the reason that the network and audio adapters are not installed.
If these don't work or you have other devices in Device Manager (right-click My Computer), then right-click the device in question, Properties, Details tab, change dropdown to Hardware Ids, and post the VEN and DEV numbers here.
All Dell XP Home CDs have the same product key known as the Dell SLP key. Thus the discs are identical providing that they are both XP Home Edition. The disc detects a Dell BIOS and if it is correct automatically inputs the SLP key and activates. Thus a single Dell XP Home Reinstallation CD can in theory be used on every Dell system that came with XP Home. A XP Home CD should not be used with a system that came with XP Professional and vice versa although it will still likely input the SLP key and activate (for XP). This was fixed for Vista and 7 in that different versions wouldn't automatically activate. The activation process changed completely for Windows 8 where the Reinstallation DVD picks up a unique embedded product key in the system BIOS, inputs this key and automatically activates.
"When you said "licenses", did you mean both using Windows XP or the same product key numbers?"
I meant that as long as both had stickers with licenses for XP Home or both had XP Pro, you can use the same disc. If one had Home and one had Pro, then you could not continue using the OS installed with the wrong disc.
I was up and running. This afternoon when I got home from work, my son tells me "there's something wrong with the computer". Right after the Windows start-up screen, there is a warning- "Procedure entry point_handler4_common could not be located in the dynamic link library- msvcrt.dll"
He says that it happened after he downloaded Windows Media Player 11.
It says "User Interface Failure" and a restart button.

Install the Chipset first:

Audio (assuming you do not have a Creative audio card):
http://ftp.dell.com/audio/REALTEK_ALC888-HD-AUDIO-FOR-_A02_R198875.EXE
Network:
