I had read that posting but since it was over a month old and that MS had now offically released the final version I was hoping that Dell could give us a further update. Even if they could say wither they plan to have them out before christmas or wither they are going to make everyone wait until the public release at the end of January.
Womble, what problems do you encounter on your D820? I have a D820 here with Vista RTM installed and everything is running flawlessly.
If you have the NVidia Quadro, get the NVidia Forceware 97.17 from 3DGuru.com - works very well. Also make sure that Bios A04 is installed (needed for TPM compatibility with Vista).
I've got the NVidia Quadro 120 and the graphics card appears to work ok. I have installed the A04 BIOS, and I can live without TPM working (never found a real need for it anyways). My biggest problem is with the bluetooth module. I can not get any of the bluetooth drivers installed, keep getting a number of errors from all the install packages which is my biggest problem. I use that for activesync, keyboard, mouse and audio headset.
Is there any updates arround for the TPM & bluetooth software so that it can be used? If I can get that sorted I will be a very happy pereson :smileyhappy:
Unfortunately due to my job I have to install Vista. I need to test sites and products with the latest operating system available as well as having to support it with clients. So the sooner I can get it installed and working the more time I have to learn all about it.
Oh well. Forget what I said then. I really do not like Vista all that much. I don't like the fact you need more memory for the eye candy that I do not care to look at all day. I do other stuff. Security is what we need, not all that eye candy stuff. Driver issues will be a fact of life for awhile until the hardware companies play catch up. :smileywink:
Okay, I have it, and it's not that big a deal. It's faster than XP and has some neat features but I can not see my company making the switch any time soon.
