I'm trying to recreate a copy of an old Sunday School ledger showing attendance, teachers, offerings etc.

The problem that I'm having is trying to create variable size cells.

I want to have more than one height or width within a row or column.

I know that I can have a whole column wider that others, but can I just make one or more cell wider than the rest?

Same situation for the height, I know that I can make a whole row higher than other rows, but can I make just a cell or 2 higher than the rest?

 

I tried to outline cells to get the "look" I want, but as far as functionality it just doesn't work.

 

Is there a different program I should be using to try an accomplish this or can it be done using Excel?
