I was doing a repair of windows XP sp2. It got about 3/4 of the way of installing the devices and I got the dreaded BSoD. BAD_POOL_CALLER stop: 0x000000c2 (0x00000007, 0x00000CD4, 0x00340045, 0xE11BC5DC). I cant boot into safe mode or go to last good configuration.

I really dont want to have to format and reinstall. I have files I need to access.
Apparently, you have a device driver that cannot load. Turn off BIOS memory options such as cache or shadow. Remove all attached devices such as USB external drives, printers, etc and rerun the XP SP2 repair. Keyboard, mouse and monitor should be the only attached devices.
If your 8400 has a SATA (Serial ATA) drive, it may (or may not) require the F6 driver during Windows Setup. Safe Mode and Last Known Good Configuration options are not valid until Windows is fully installed.
Methods exist to recover your data files before reformatting.
I started pulling out my memory, then I reboot and got the same error. I pulled out the other memory stick and got the same error. I got down to my modem and low and behold it finished the repair. It also took care of my IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error also. I will not put that modem back in my computer. Just a few more question, does it pay to have more than 1 GB of memory or would that be overkill? The computer seems to boot a little slower- any ideas? Also is spybot worth the money even though I run Norton Internet Security 2007?
Glad you're back up and running. I personally don't see a need for more than 1Gb of RAM, but I'm a tightwad. Spybot is a good program whether it's the purchased version or the free for personal use version available on
www.download.com. I particularly like its immunization capability for those who dare venture to the dark corners of the Internet.
You can increase your bootup speed by removing unnecessary programs from your startup folder. For example, I never use a personal calendar or Instant messaging program. Likewise, I see no need for Adobe Photo Downloader or Kodak's Easyshare to run at startup. You can click on Start|Run. Type msconfig. Press Enter. Click on the Startup tab. Uncheck some of those programs you would just as soon open manually. Apply your changes. Restart and see what a difference it makes.
