Not sure what you are referring to.
    Please try these:

Clean Windows Startup and hidden Startup:
    http://www.fixyourwindows.com/optimizewindowsstartup.htm

    Spyware/Virus Removal and Prevention:
    http://www.fixyourwindows.com/windowsxpsolutions.htm
(Links to online virus scans on the same page)

    Hope this helps!

This is not the normal blue bars at the xp screen at start up.This is a huge status bar that goes all the way across the screen at the black screen on startup, it has white bars, it is only there for a split second then everything boots up normal.Coarse i have noticed that it seems that it takes longer for xp to boot.Seems like it takes norton av 2004 longer to appear in the systems tray, after sp2 install. I run adware 1.04 and spybot every few days, and I have no viruses acording to norton 2004.Maybe this helps thanks.

Since you only notice some slight changes after SP2 installed...

Why not you try to uninstall SP2 through Add/Remove section and see if your problem solved.

Did you requested the SP2 CD ? It's more convenient to intall SP2 by the CD. But if you having broadband connection, it should be ok.

FYI: SP2 having new section called security center. Over there you'll see three section: Firewall / Automatic update and Anti Virus status. SP2 will check these three section for verification during start-up to see if any one of them might out of date and needed you to update them.
This should be the issue which takes your system a little longer to start-up......what do you think ?

The status bar seems have went away for now. Checked the the security ,seems that the windows update needed to be activaited. Cleared start up folder,it had that ati contol center in it.I Only have norton av 2004,and type32 for my microsoft wireless elite key board, starting in msconfig. But still seems to boot slower with sp2 installed, than without.
