Internet Explorer 7 keeps shutting down

Hey folks,

Got a new problem with IE7.  For some reason it keeps shutting down on me while browsing.  I get this genaric message, "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close".  It seems to happen when I have three or more "tabs" open at a time or when I open an audio or video link.

Any thoughts?

Try uninstalling the add-ons. It's these that cause probs. Then you can reinstall one by one to see which one is a pain.

I too have had this problem. I recently wiped the HD of my wifes computer, Reinstalled the OS and IE7. I found that the flash OCX fil is the one causing the pronblem and in looking at other forums, it appears that this is a known bug but I have'nt been able to find anybody that has a fix for it yet. Has anybody here seen a fix?

While waiting for your replies, I tried a complete uninstall of IE7, restart and reinstall.  When I reinstalled, I shut down everything I could including my third-party firewall and AV software during the download of the new copy of IE7 and updates (not the smartest thing to do, I know).  So far, so good.  I haven't pushed it really hard yet but it's been a couple days and no problems.

I'll let you know if it starts having problems again.  Thanks for responding.

OK.  I know this is an old issue and it's been a while since my last post but the problem has resurfaced.

Laz123, you mentioned "uninstalling" the add-ons in IE7.  Do you mean disabling them or actually uninstalling them?  I'm familiar with enabling, disabling and deleting add-ons but that's it as far as they are concerned.
