Re-installing XP

I have an old Dimension 8400 machine that I had planned on either selling or giving away. For security reasons I used the program "Darik's Boot and Nuke" to wipe the drive. I did not realize that this program would also wipe the Dell OEM hidden partition. Now when I try to re-install XP from the CD that came with the computer I get the error from the OS install software that a hard drive can not be found. I have been able to format the drive manually, so I know that the drive is functional.  Is this because the OEM partition is no longer on the system? Is there some way I can still use the restore CD to restore the system or am I just out of luck?

OK first boot into your bios, Set the drive option to Raid Autodetect/ATA

Pop your disk in and install the OS

Go HERE for the procedure on reloading drivers. Access the Drivers and download page and use the enter your service tag option to pare the list down to driver just for your particular build

If that doesn't work, you will need to load the SATA controller driver using a floppy at the F6 prompt during Windows Setup.  Search for f6flpy3289.zip by Intel to unzip to your floppy.

Hi, If you don't have an floppy drive, you can use nlite HERE to slipstream the driver onto an disc.
