reformat OS

Not sure if this is the right place for this.

It looks like I need to reformat my OS, I have no cd's, and the cntrl- f11 doesn't seem to be working, I get a system recovery message, and when I try to continue a blue error screen.

Any suggestions? Are there any other options to reformatting without disc'c, or do I have to just find an OS somewhere?

I have a Dimension 9200

Hi sidewaysup, Have you tried doing an windows Restore, taking it back to an time before you had the problem (s). You can try to repair the dell Restore Partition at the Command Prompt HERE. If that fails then you can order you backup disc's online HERE if you live in the US. If you live outside the US, then you will have to give your local dell support an ring. Give the CTRL + F11 a go again, when you see the dell splash screen press CTRL + F11. If you miss it it will contunie to bootup.

Hi, thanks, the restore is not working, I get an error, can not be restored, and I've tried several restore points. When I tried cntrl / f-11 I got a recovery console, but when I tried to activate that, I got a blue screen error.

I will try it again, thanks

It might very well be your hard drive. Try running the Dell diagnostics by Pressing the F12 key at the Dell splash screen and run the harddrive diagnostics.

You can request a set of disks by going to this LINK
