shut down problem- will not shut down

When I attempt to shut the computer off I receive the following message.

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer"

The computer does not shut off so I turn it off by switching off the power.

Also included in the message, "***STOP: 0X0000007E [0XC0000005, 0XF8898941, 0XF896F9C0, 0XF896F6C0]

*** KBDC7ASS.SYS-ADDRESS F8898941 BASE AT F8898000, DATESTAMP 3D6DDAD3

There could be multiple reasons for this to happen. I have seen it when a power supply is about to die, or it could be a fan is about to die, or it could be that a process is hanging, and could possibly damage windows. There are several things tha could be going on. That is a very general error, and quite common too.

You may be right, but the error message seems to point to kbdclass.sys, which I believe that the OP inadvertently misspelled.
