Slow to react on booting up.

For about three weeks, when I press the start button in the morning, a few times my 8200 does not start and I have to press the button again.

Otherwise, it works as ever...bought in November 2002...is this a symptom of something serious - could it need a new internal battery - any thoughts welcomed.

I have very carefully vacuumed inside the case a few times but could not get near where the start button is located.

Matt.

    Well Matt,

I don't think that your issue is anything software related. I think that it's been sometime that you have bought your computer and it's just that the switches on the 8200 or that matter of fact any switch causes some buildup which will cause the switch to not function properly. If you still have support for your computer. I would suggest that you get the switch changed by Dell ASAP! I know that it's difficult to part with your computer but could be done. You will have to be persistent with support coz I don't think that this will be an easy issue to resolve. But if you don't have support then I might suggest that you stay with what it's at as get the computer to start. I don't think that the switch should deteriorate drastically, you should be fine for a while.

So that's about it, I hope that helps,
