Try changing Microsoft Updates from Automatic to Notify Only.

I started having this problem today as well. The difference is, that svchost.exe takes up to 99% of my cpu and is a System process. I actually have a small respit at the moment for some reason, but it's been really annoying trying to take notes when the computer can't do anything because of it.I don't have Automatic Updates on, I haven't updated anything in over a week at least. The only difference I can think of is that I installed some software for my tablet last night. It was working well last night and the first part of this morning, but for some reason it decided to eat my cpu starting about midday.Does anyone have an idea how I can go about fixing this (without getting rid of the new software...maybe something just installed wrong?), is there a way to check for some kind of error that would cause this?1115

minako_aiya - If you haven't updated anything "in over a week at least", then you may have missed last Tuesday's critical update for XP and 5 more updates today.
Suggest you all scan your systems for malware ASAP. Then go to this site and download Process Explorer (free). Run PE and on toolbar click Options>Always on top. Set it to a smallish window size so you can see it. When the system bogs down, look in the PE window under CPU to see what's really hogging CPU time (exclude System Idle process). PE is much better than Task Manager for figuring out what's hogging the system.

I have updated my computer a few minutes ago, restarted and now svchost.exe is only user 2% of the CPU. So my problem is solved. Still, thanks for the help.1115

to find out what program dill is causing the problem download WinPatrol it's free and you can find it here. http://www.winpatrol.com/ Run the WinPatrol explorer click the services tab
which you might have to drag open a little wider the see all information. take a sereen shot or write down all running Svchost dills that are running. close WinPatrol. do the ctrl-atl -del and slect Task Manager slect processes,kill the process that is running at 50%. restart WinPatrol an see which on was shut down. In Winpatrol right click the process that was shut down slect Infor.... and it will tell you which program is the problem.1115

If you updated and now CPU usage has dropped off, then it sounds like I was right. The Microsoft Updater was probably trying to do it's thing but for whatever reasons (perhaps you weren't on line or your firewall was blocking), it couldn't.

I thought that it was over:( But now when i start my PC svchost.exe (system) uses 50% of my CPU So now its not local service, but system.574

Yes, only the neccesary is booting. But still svchost.exe is using 50% of the CPU1115

Grab free Process Explorer and see exactly what process is using the CPU time. That should tell you how to fix the issue.
Have you tried turning off all the unnecessary stuff that loads when you boot the system?
