It depends how many you will transfer but another solution is get an external DVD writer and burn your files into a DVD RW. It might take longer but it is an option if you don't want to deal with moving the HD, setting jumpers and so on.....

I'll prefer to use a Flash USB to do it... Probably U need more than one iteraction if you have a lot of files, but should not be a problem... And you can use your flas memory in the future.

Thanks, I don't think I know enough to move hard drives.  But I do have a DVD rw drive in both computers.  I may try the cable.   Mostly I just need to move photos and saved documents, stuff like that.  It doesn't seem to be alot....but I'll see when I go to do it.  Thanks for the help. 

well ... first of all, you are welcome Nate... my message was just to inform all of the lower price.

 

second and for the author of this message... if you only have a small amout of files to move that fit on a CD or DVD, by all means copy them as such and transfer them; this way you will have a backup that you can store in a safe place.  I suggest you use a rewritable disk and try to redo your backup peridically so you have a backup in the event of a mishap.

 

however, if you are like me and have a huge amount of files to move ( have over 200Gig) then a network connection or Belkin cable is a good investment.  I use a 500Gig Western Digital backup drive for this reason and backup at least once a week.  It has to happen only once in your lifetime to learn the value of a good backup etiquette.
