XP home edition set up problem

I have one pc and printer.  The computer is seeing itself as part of a lan (network) and is asking for administrative permission to make changes...can I get this problem to go away by changing set up somehow, maybe with the xp installation disc?  Please help a non-computer expert!

Tried - I'm identified as Owner, computer administrator.  Guest account is turned off.  Go figure...

Okay.  Followed your instructions.  It has a name I remember giving it and then a domain is indicated as:  Domain:MSHOME.  This may be the problem?

There's a key that says rename, but nothing that looks like it eliminates the domain /workgroup status.

Correcting myself now.  It says ...uses the following information to identify your computer on the network, and then gives the name of the computer.  The network is identified as MSHOME.
