How about the card's length in general, will it actually fit in the first place? From what i saw there are 4 SATA ports across, there are plugs sticking out from 1 & 2 ports which the card will completely cover. I don't think it will be a big problem, if they are going to make it tight for the card to fit they can just be replugged in ports 3 & 4 below. Also it looks like PSU will block the card's vent only partially.....? Still bad, i know

Do you not recommend getting the Founder's Edition and just wait for third party alternatives? I hear open vents are going to be even worse for a case like XPS models because of how tiny and unventilated they are.

I know it's hard to say not having seen the other models yet but going by guess work, which brand would you recommend if not Nvidia's Founder's Edition, based on previous cards.

Based on whats been revealed thus far, can anyone make an educated advice on which version of of RTX 3080 would be most suitable for XPS 8930? I was thinking of either getting Asus Rog Strix, or EVGA (as they become available of course). Would anyone of these variations be better than the Founder Edition? Would they fit, they look slightly bigger than FE.....

Do we know if any of Dell's motherboards will support an RTX 30xx video card without a BIOS update, even assuming the PSU is big enough?

At minimum, you'll have to disable Secure Boot in BIOS setup.

@John Wayne  - Let someone else be the Guinea Pig, given the estimated cost of RTX 30xx cards and the PSU upgrade you'll need. My 2 cents... 

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see mention of which CPU you have in your XPS 8930, what you'd use an RTX 30xx card for, or if any games (assuming you game) can actually take full advantage of the capabilities of these cards right now...

@RoHe I currently have a weak 460 Watt power supply pre installed by Dell along with my RTX 2060. I say weak because obviously before i get an RTX 3080 i'll have to upgrade to at least an 850 watt as Dell630i suggested.

I've been a console player pretty much all my life but recently my old PC died and i had no choice but to upgrade to an XPS 8930 5 months ago, wish i waited but too late now. Plus, for the first time i also upgraded to a 4k monitor, which is a major reason why i want an rtx 3080 so i can game at 4k on ultra settings without stutter, otherwise i would be wasting the potential of my monitor by downgrading resolution. From what i understand 3080 should be more than capable of delivering that. I'm not super computer savvy but thanks to this forum and a few instructional videos on youtube i'm able to work my way around on basic things. I'm still too green about adding additional fans or any liquid cooling system, as i'll be getting myself into the woods, so i'm just hoping to get my hands on a 3080 card with a design that will allow cooling in such a tight space case without my help.

@Anonymous do you think i'm asking for trouble if i only upgrade my power supply and not add any other fans other than what is already in my case? Will the card eventually overheat and die on me a lot sooner?
