Any Leaks Regarding The Aurora 13?

You would think with the Alder Lake getting released shortly that we might get word what the next Aurora chassis might look like. Currently even with a factory LQ AIO they still can toasty because it's basically a nano chassis. I would really like to see Dell redesign the chassis to make it much bigger so you can use standard parts instead of having to deal with propriety hardware for the most part.

Hopefully it does not leak. That would not be a good thing to have that coolant leaking all over the interior of that case.

No one I know is willing to break their NDA (which is a good thing). I know some new laptops are coming, but I don't beta Alienware desktops any more.

I doubt the case will be much bigger (if changed at all).

What I would like to see is the Power-Supply relocated, so it's not on top of the main-processor. It's been that way since Aurora-R5. This would allow better Liquid-Cooling, and better thermals. And since the internal-config tends to filter-down to XPS and other model-lines ... maybe a huge/tall heat-sink fan-cooling tower for processors with lower TDP.

I would like to see the case a somewhat bigger size so we can upgrade the videocard with a standard GPU instead of trying to remove stuff like the lower fan just to fit a longer card. Didn't the Aurora R6 that had the triangle shape allowed for longer GPU's? That was a unique looking case and pretty cool looking as well.

Actually, that was the Area-51 R2 to whatever R? they ended with . Yes, the shape was unique, but I'm not sure how much better (IMO).

The Area-51 is another reason why I don't think Aurora will get bigger ... I think they would just re-design and re-introduce it. It's always been larger and was built on better "enthusiasts" architecture (chipset, etc).

The Area-51 R2, yeah that was it. A really nice looking design and based on the specs sheet it allowed for double wide full length cards as well as SLI. The power supply was on the bottom, too. That was a slick looking design but I don't know what the thermals were since I never owned one.

Wait, did you say new *laptops* are coming??? That would really be good to know now, since my x17 order had been delayed indefinitely...

One would think that with the increasing performance of CPU/GPU and the consequent heat production that the current chassis is reaching the end of its viable life.
Maybe it's time for a new, bigger, better cooled (or at least upgradeable) metal box to take them through the next decade.

I’m thinking completely the opposite: since the current design is so compact, why cant DELL update the exterior of the case to make it much more compact? I like the compactness of new Inspiron desktops

Because PCB lengths for GPUs are getting bigger, they would hinder themselves on high end GPU support

“Because PCB lengths for GPUs are getting bigger, they would hinder themselves on high end GPU support“

To a point because what Dell does is to source OEM cards to fit the nano chassis. So they could still do that but the current design of the R10/11/12 really needs a new approach. The thermals are really being pushed to the limit. In the flash deals, the R10/R12 are getting air cooled unless you buy a top of the line CPU and GPU package.

They have a nice deal for the R12 with an 11700F, 16GB, RTX 3060 but it’s being config with a 550W PSU and air cooling.
