Area-51m R1, HDMI overheating
I'm passionate about VR games, so I decided to buy an Alienware Area-51m R1 because many people told me it was the best VR ready laptop at the time. I use an HTC VIVE. But when I start to play the laptop starts to overheat, thus affects the entrance port of the HDMI as well, cutting the signal off between my headset becoming a black screen, while the game tracking still works and all. I disconnected the cable and saw that the tip was really hot. I need a solution where I can prevent the laptop going overheat or at the very least not affecting the HDMI entrance.
One more thing, I did buy an adapter of an HDMI port that connects inside a normal USB one, but the VR headset couldn't connect.
Overall the laptop is still super good.

I would recommend getting a replacement cable that is thicker and see if that helps. Also I would feel the areas around the hot HDMI port to see if heating is causing all these issues. Make sure your GPU and CPU are downclocked too as that can help with thermals and other issues related to heat.

unfortunately, there's no replacement for the cable supported by the VR headset since it has to be a 3 in 1 that connects all the system, which comes from the set you buy from. Also, could you give me an appropriate percentage of battery usage for the underclock of the CPU? since I'm not very expert in these things.

Hi @FreeVR from your excellent OP description, it seems that the HDMI connection is damaged or has a fault. Use a bright light to visually inspect both headset plug and laptop socket. If the HDMI cable next to its plug is hot, the cable has been damaged and/or has a high resistance fault with its pin connection inside the plug.
