x17 R2, future RAM upgradability help
Hello Friends,
I found the below configuration within my budget and would appreciate anyone's advise on whether i would be able to add another 16GB RAM at a later date?
Also, is this 8GBX2 or 16GBX1?
The reason for my question is that when I try to change the RAM to 32GB on the configuration screen of the website., the Graphics Card automatically changes to NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3080 Ti, 16 GB GDDR6

On that sales page, when you change memory to 32GB or 64GB, a drop down appears = "This selection will change other specs.". Both force you to the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti. Why, unknown.
Also, is this 8GBX2 or 16GBX1?

Thanks for this post. I’d been struggling to find this information on the x17 r2. I’m upgrading to a 1tb and 2tb wd black sn850 for the ssd’s and have a second heatsink for the extra drive. Going to store the original as a backup of sorts to “hotswap” the os if I need to.
Then I “splurged” to grab 64gb of Kingston fury ignite ddr5.
All should be coming in tomorrow or Tuesday, and got decent deals on most of it. Excited to get the components installed soon!

I am waiting for my x17 r2 to be delivered.
New Intel cpu's have just been released.
Can I upgrade the cpu on my laptop?
Can I pay for Dell to install the new cpu's getting released?
The new cpu I was looking at is the 12950hx. The benchmarks look like a significant jump.
I couldn't wait for new laptops to get released since I really needed new computer for work and etc.

No, the CPU cannot be replaced - it is soldered onto the system board. If Dell releases a mainboard for your system with the CPU you want, you might have the option of replacing the system board -- but it will be a very expensive (well over $1,500) upgrade.

Hi @Viveksen welcome to this free user to user Alienware laptop discussion forum. This is not Dell support.
Support documentation for Alienware X17 R2 says there are Memory slots on the main board and RAM upgrade up to 64 GB, 2 x 32 GB is supported.
The NVIDIA GeForce GPU is soldered onto the main board and its VRAM cannot be upgraded.
