changing avamar hostname
hi well i install new avamar single node 7.1.0-370 and for some reason after installation complete i receive the instruction to change the hostname for the avamar single node server.
can any one help me to get the procedure for this.

You will need to login with your EMC support account.
Just gone through the document looks like it is applicable only till 6.x. I have done the hostname change change for 7.x which has few more steps extra.. Guide to follow is Avamar-Post-Installation-Network-Configuration-Technical-Note.
It is one of the service offerings from EMC to do. I recommend to have an PS engineer to do this.
I am in the middle of changing hostname for 1 node AVE VM 7.3.0. All the steps mentioned in the docs runs fine until I reach where I need to change systemname which is right after restart.dpn step. Command --> "avmaint config --avamaronly systemname="NEWNAME". This is throwing error with server_exception(MSG_ERR_INVALID_PARAMETERS). And checking the systemname, it shows the old name.
Any suggestion? Not sure what option/value I used is incorrect here.

This tallies with my understanding that this is not a procedure which is supported for use by customers, only DellEMC Professional Services (or Service Enabled Partners).

I would discourage the use of the "Post-Installation Network Configuration" guide. This guide is meant to serve as a reference for experienced administrators and partners so they can make advanced changes to the networking configuration (e.g. adding or removing VLANs, configuring dedicated replication networks, etc.).
The "Changing the Name and IP Addressing of Avamar Systems" guide is the guide that should be used for a simple rename or re-IP.
Edit: The "Changing the Name and IP Addressing of Avamar Systems" guide I mentioned does not cover Avamar 7.0+. The Post Installation Network Configuration guide is now the preferred guide. My apologies for the error.
