CIFS Performance Tuning?

We are seeing very poor performance when using CIFS and I was wondering if there are any tips or whitepapers regarding CIFS tuning?

During our testing we are getting 15MB/sec using a custom in house application that writes data from a DB to the share.

I have not tested it using an IO load tool like vdBench yet, I just wanted to see if there was anything we should tune up front.

Celerra:

NS-G8 v5.6.50.2

Two 10GbE network interfaces configured in an LACP port-channel.

RAID-5 7+1, 15k FC-AL, V-Max backend storage.

Filesystem was create using the sym_std AVM pool (filesystem is striped across 8 LUN's, 32k blocksize.)

Dedupe - Disabled

Virtual provisioning - Disabled

Direct writes - Disabled

Prefetch - Enabled

CIFS Sync Write - Disabled

Host Environment:

Windows 2008 R2

16-cores, 256GB RAM

Dedicated 1GbE interface for Celerra interface.

We’re using snapshots but not on the filesystem in question, we’re not using V2 replication at all.

Do you have any sheduled snapshots or V2 replicator running on the file system in question?
