PowerPath required for multipathing?
I have a Windows host which was previously multipathed to an HP MSA1000 SAN. The MPIO software from HP was installed.
I am migrating this Windows host to the Celerra NS-120 where it will also be multipathed with 2 fibre HBAs. Do I need to install EMC PowerPath? LUNs are being discovered twice in Windows Disk Management. Thank you.

which software was that ?
AFAIK there is no HP multi-pathing software - they use the Windows native MPIO

It was HP's MPIO DSM Manager. I have uninstalled it and installed PowerPathral67 wrote:

good - Powerpath works better with EMC arrays anyway
If you still have data to migrate you might want to look into PowerPath Migration Enabler
I think the Host Copy piece is also bundled free of charge

Hi,
I dont know if we support the HP MPIO software (or if it supports EMC Clariion) - the support matrix should be able to tell
you also probably get better responses for Fibre Channel questions in the Clariion section of the forum
I would recommend to use Powerpath - it comes bundled with the NS-120 and offer better functionality for EMC arrays.
You might even be able to use PPME Host copy for migration.
