This primus (emc130392) covers moving a DAE from one Clariion to another. I do not think you can expect to maintain any data by moving the DAE ot another bus; the Clariion is going to see the enclosure as a net new add. Hopefully you are wanting to move an enclosure that is at the end of the bus as well.

Changing the bus or enclosure number of a configured DAE is not easily done once a DAE is provisioned.

If a DAE has been configured as Bus X Enclosure Y, with RAID groups and LUNs created there, the bus and enclosure address cannot be changed because the storage system will no longer recognize the RAID groups and their LUNs. A LUN migration would be needed to change the bus or enclosure address and preserve the LUN¿s data.

It is always advisable to spread your workload out across your available storage system resources. High bus bandwidth utilization will affect all drives on the same bus. This would be most noticeable during ASAP rebuilds. You have the potential to significantly increase your backend- bus bandwidth. Your current workload's utilization of the back-end buses, your future expansion plans, available maintenance windows, and your level-of-pain all weigh in on any decision to correct this problem.
