Deleting a Compellent Enclosure?
Can someone tell me what happens when you right-click on an enclosure and select delete? I know this is probably an obvious answer, but I want to know if you get a second chance to think about it? Can you schedule it since I assume you're restriping the data to the remaining enclosures on the SAN? There is nothing I've found in the SCOS user guide/admin guide. Anyone have any ideas on how to ballpark time to move the data?

You need to release the disks in an enclosure and then remove it physically from the backend before deleting it. Otherwise is comes back :)
Moving the data from a release operation uses a rebalance, which can be scheduled. Time is based on OS version, amount of data, amount of free space on remaining disks, and how the volume of spindles in the system.

Michael is correct, I just wanted to mention that when you do the rebalance not only will it take time depending on the factors he mentioned but it will also affect performance so I would recommend that you schedule it after business hours or even on the weekend. That way you will still be able to do work and access other data that you have stored on the array. You will be able to view the status of the rebalance from inside the Management GUI.
