What's the difference between a datadomain and SAN?

I understand that SAN also uses hdd but the network uses fiber cables so that the distance between storage and server can range upto 10KM and performance is also good.Additionally, I understand that iSCSI protocol also supports distance upto 10KM.

What is there in datadomain ?In one of the environment we are using datadomain and backup is taken on NFS
