Essentials does not report disks on 2008 Hyper-v Host

Hi,

I installed OME on Windows 2008 server and installed OMSA on a few Windows 2008 R2 servers. Everything works great:  specifically OME can see disk information for the R2 servers.  I have installed/configured SNMP and OMSA on my Hyper-V hosts and OME discovers them and reports on nearly everything EXCEPT disk information.  If I connect to OMSA on the hyper-v host I can see disk information, but I would like the disk information to be reported back to the OME server.  I ran the Dell troubleshooting tool and I can communicate to the hyper-v host via SNMP.

Any ideas?  Pulling my hair out.

Thanks,

Drew

    Rob,

Thanks for responding.  I will try and clarify:

    1.  Windows Server 2008 R2 servers and Hyper-V hosts are on the same subnet

and are scanned by OME with same settings (SNMP, WMI)

    2. In OME on details tab for my Windows servers I see tons on inventory information including

The physical and virtual disk information.

    3. In OME for Hyper-V hosts I see tons of inventory information (hardware, software, guest info)

but NO physical or virtual disk information.

    4.  If I log into OMSA web console on the hyper-v host, it has the physical and virtual disk info.

    5.  One thing I notice that is different as reported by OME are the software agents.  I will paste in the

2 screenshots, the first one is from the windows server and the second one is from the Hyper-v:

Thanks again and I hope I am being clear.

    Hi Drew,

So the disk info doesn't get reported by OMSA/OMSS over the WMI protocol.  Are you sure you are all SNMP in your discovery wizard for these servers?

    thx

Yeah...so disable WMI in your disc wizard and only use SNMP.  Try this for one of your HyperV boxes and see how it looks.

Also, use the Troubleshooting tool (on the OME desktop) and point the SNMP test at the hyper v box.

Be sure the version of OMSA is reported in the TS tool result set.

    thx

    Rob
