SmartPools job

Does the SmartPools job only apply file pool policies, or is there anything else it does as well?

Just wondering if you aren't using any file pool policies is there any reason to leave the SmartPools job to run every day?

The only other thing it does is "repairing" files that are somehow missing protection.

All jobs do this when they happen to encounter files in need for repair.

But usually FlexProtect or MultiScan kick in right after specific events

like node or disk failures and outages when it is known that

the need for file repairs might occur.

And the MediaScan job which also does file repairs runs once a month.

So there's barely a use of running SmartPools every day with no file pool policies.

It also requires a paid license -- and if it's present, usually there was

some intention to set up meaningful file policies; has this been dropped for the cluster?

    To add to Peter_Sero comments.

CloudPools file policies require SmartPools to be enabled.

Thanks, yeah, i have 2 node pools and have just removed the file policies, and the smartpools job can take over a day to run so given i no longer need it i can remove it from the schedule and let other jobs run.
