    Welcome to the Dell Community @jwc72

    Do you have to reset Date & Time every time it boots into the BIOS setup???

    Does your main battery hold a charge???

    Best regards,

    U2

    hi

    No i don't have to reset the date / time

    Every time i shutdown the laptop - the next restart it boots into bios

    The battery holds the charge nicely

    if i press the esc and the crtl key - i don't get  the recover bios on this laptop

    This Dell support document may help. Also make sure that the boot order is correct in the BIOS. Finally try a reset. Disconnect the battery and adapter then press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Then reconnect everything and try to boot again.

    @jwc72

    Try disabling "Fast Boot" in your BIOS.
