Normal temperature for Latitude E6440?

Hi,

My laptop is around 60 degrees when not doing anything and up to 70 when surfing and up to 90 degrees my kids play Minecraft. Then we have had to tur off Minecraft since the music in it has become strange and the picture does not work as it should. What is the normal temperatures? I read that over 60 degrees can damage the computer. I have gone through most of the steps in the Dell 'To troubleshoot overheating, shutdown, or heat management problems on a Dell computer '. Very grateful for any help!

Are the temperatures in degrees Celsius?  If so, the temps are way too high and as a matter of fact, the computer should not even be operating normally.  Try downloading and installing HW Monitor  which will display temperatures and usage percentages of your hardware and battery.  There are a number of things which could cause your computer to run hot - - graphics-intensive programs, those which run many instruction sets through the processor at once (such as games), and not having enough memory.  Hopefully you can find out what is going on with your 6440.  Best of luck.

    Hi Bassman12350,

Thank you for your answer! Aha, oh! Yes, it's Celcius. I am using RealTemp, but can try HW Monitor.
    Thanks again,

Yes I have done that, and many other steps that Dell suggests; https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000130867/how-to-troubleshoot-a-overheating-shutdown-or-thermal-issue-on-a-dell-pc.

Now the idle temp is around 55. Turned Freedom app and a music playing app off, which seemed to help. But still not sure what the normal temperatures should be...
