No laptops with working hibernate? Yikes...

You can look around at tuxmobile or linux on laptops. Should be able to find something that works.

I brought the Latitude D505, D400, D600 and D800 to work with hibernation under linux.
use Software Suspend 2 kernel's patches.
Add the correct dummydriver.

I can suspend2Ram or suspend2Disk (hibernation)

I have a Dell D610, Pentium M 760 (2.0GHz), Radeon Mobility X300 (1400x1050 display). I used a Fedora Core 3 distribution. ... I've been using Linux for over 10 years, including kernel hacking. I could not figure out how to get suspend to RAM (S3) to resume without hanging. Using multiple 2.6 kernel releases, with patches to fix S3 BIOS & video card interaction, etc. No luck. *Much* time wasted.

Using the suspend to hard disk patches from http://www.suspend2.net/ have been working just fine for me. Applying the patches to a 2.6.9 kernel, recompiling, and reinstalling was no problem. I've commented out the 'Load "DRI"' line from my X server config ... but suspend to disk works.

Unlike Mengis, I still can't get suspend to RAM working. If anyone knows how to get the resume part to work on a Dell D610, I'd love to know.

I have Inspiron 8600, running with Mandrake Linux 10.1 community edition. Hibernate works perfectly without an issue, out of box. No issues so far. Was able to hibernate back and forth for around a month :)
