DVD R/RW and wireless problem

Recently, I have installed Suse Linux 9.3 onto Inspiron 6400, but my DVD R/RW and wireless are not working in this OS. Can anyone help please?

Hi, i think your dvd unit it's working because you can install linux, other question is that don't burn, maybe you should mount media to read it. What happens when you insert a cd/dvd media with your linux up and running? test your config in file /etc/fstab so your dvd unit are user mountable. install k3b to burn cd's and dvd's like nero do. Wireless config depends of chipset from your wireless card, you should try first to detect the card with yast and maybe install packages related to wireless like wireless-tools to set it up correctly run from shell this command to see if wifi card is detected $lspci -> shows info about your cards $iwconfig -> shows info about wifi cards hope it helps

I checked under 'suseplugger' where the 'device manager' listed out all the hardware

    under 'cd-rom', '_NEC DVD+-RW ND-6650A'

does it means that it can be detected automatically?

How do I browse for the files saved under DVD?

Konqueror, /dev, /cdrom but nothing came out. Then I tried /dev/media/cdrom also nothing.

    Any suggestions?
