Linux Display Drivers

I just took delivery of my Dell Presision M6300 with Linux already installed.  During set up everything seemed like it went well but my display is horrible.  I am new to Linux and don't have a clue as to what to do about the display.  The version of Red Hat is Enterprise 5.1.  Doen't it seem like the display drivers should have already been loaded?  Thanks

what kind of video card is it?  you more than likely need to load the proprietary nvidia or ati driver or the pre-bundled open-source alternative from your distro.

in Fedora you can run:  lspci | grep -i video  (as root)

not sure the analagous command in debian

Yeah, what kind of card is it?

The "lspci" should list it down beside "VGA Compatible Controller"
