Slow gaming performance on Alienware M15X
Hey guys, I recently got my Alienware M15X. It has a rather low performance when it comes to gaming. I get less than one fps on Crysis, but I noticed where people on youtube seem to get 20-40 fps on the same computer. I really don't know much about computers, but I'm pretty sure there's something that I'm not doing right. It's equipped with Intel Core i7 720QM 1.6GHz and 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1066MHz 2 x 2048MB. I'm not sure what other information you need, but let me know if theres anything you need to know. Thanks ahead of time for any answers posted.

Most gaming related issues will be video card / DirectX related. I had a lot of trouble with my M15x, solved by installing the latest DirectX and video card drivers. Go to the Microsoft web site and install the latest DirectX, then the latest NVidia drivers. Note that the latter link points to the 200M series drivers, if you have a different video card, make sure to find the right drivers.
The other thing you can do is run the Windows performance index. This isn't the most accurate tool but it will give you an idea of any bottlenecks in your system. Your CPU index should be around 7.2, your memory in the high 6, and video around 6.5. If any of them are significantly lower then you may have issues there. To run this, type 'performance' in the start menu search box, select 'performance information and tools', then run the assessment.
Good luck...the M15x is a great system providing it is running well.
